Crowns and Cupcakes

There is something so inherently ethereal about flower crowns… And while I have always had a deep love for them, I hadn’t ever found an opportunity to make one until I joined a class specifically for that purpose. And just in case any of you share the interest in floral crowns, I’ve linked a few similar items at the bottom of this post.

While we worked we were offered these delicious looking cupcakes!

The work tables were covered in a vast array of flowers, so we were free to pick and choose what ever we were drawn to. As always, I noticed purple first!

Our teacher was both enthusiastic and helpful and I think we all left the class feeling satisfied with what we’d created. 🙂

Essential Oil Moisturizer

2016-02-17 22.52.53-1.jpg

I have always been interested in essential oils and their natural healing properties, so when I found an easy recipe for an anti-redness moisturizer on Pinterest, I knew I had to make one!

Ingredients

1/4 tsp Witch hazel

1/4 tsp Jojoba oil

3-4 drops Tea tree oil

2 spoonfuls Coconut oil

(Castile soap pictured because my son snuck it in!)

(Makes about enough for the small jar)

  1. Scoop several spoonfuls of coconut oil into a small mixing bowl and add the jojoba oil, witch hazel, and tea tree oil.
  2. Mix the contents together well and then place inside the storing container of your choice (I used one I got from Hobby Lobby).
  3. Use as often as you like! I typically apply a small amount of this in addition to my normal moisturizer and have noticed a HUGE difference in my skin. My skin is smoother and clearer already and if you like the dewy look this moisturizer is perfect for that!

Warby Parker: Final Decision

Toward the end of the five day deadline to choosing new glasses frames (and after asking everyone in my family which looked best), I finally came to a decision on this pair called the Wilkie. I just loved the look and fit that they had and thought that they really complimented my face shape.

Warby Parker was extremely involved during the whole process and even provided feedback! They were so helpful and I’m anxiously anticipating the arrival of my new glasses!

April Favorites

April is flying by, so I thought I would compile a list of my must have beauty products that have been getting a lot of use this month.

1) Mentha by Bath & Body Works

Kevin actually got me hooked on to this amazing body wash. Unlike many of the body washes that I have used, this one bubbles up with just a few squirts of the product, which is highly important to me.

The product description says it’s a vitamin wash that contains peppermint oil and while you’re using it, you can definitely notice the peppermint. Initially, I found that the minty scent was a little overwhelming, but it genuinely leaves you feeling refreshed and awake. (It’s also budget friendly!)

2) Urban Decay’s Eye Primer Potion

When I bought my Naked 3 pallette, it came with several samples of Urban Decay’s Eye Primer. I tried shades Sin, Anti-Aging, Original, and Eden. But I would have to say that Eden was my favorite. I preferred the color of it overall and the performance of this primer is matchless.

Before I began using this primer, my eyeshadow would cake up in my creases and I would constantly worry that it was uneven and that someone would notice. But, this completely solved that problem. I highly recommend this product to anyone who values eyeshadow because it works incredibly well and is so easy to use!

3) Yes to Blueberries Eye Firming Treatment

I was initially drawn to this brand because it’s a paraben free, cruelty free, and mostly natural brand. But, I have actually noticed a difference in the dark circles under my eyes after using this product. I apply it twice a day (morning and night) and it absorbs nicely and leaves my skin feeling moisturized without running into my eyes.

I don’t know if this could be used to combat severe fine lines and wrinkles, but at a such a reasonable price, I think it would be worth trying.

4)Anastasia Beverley Hills Dipbrow Pomade

I have found that a person’s eyebrows can make or break their face and that is why this product is so essential to my routine. This is by far my favorite tool to get sculpted eyebrows and is a makeup essential for me. I apply it with an angled brush in the morning and it will literally remain all day, even in rain and humidity. It looks natural and won’t budge after a long day of use.

5) Tarte Cosmetics Amazonian Clay Foundation

I was originally drawn to Tarte cosmetics because of their pretty packaging, but have found that it is much more than just a nice looking foundation. It’s a little pricey, but Tarte is by far the best foundation that I have ever used. It comes in a wide variety of shades, and contains a lot of product for the price.

It is advertised as 12 hour coverage, and I noticed that I am not constantly having to re-apply my foundation throughout the day like I would have had to before. I don’t go crazy when applying it to my skin though, because I don’t mind my freckles showing and I find that all foundations can clog pores so easily. But just a light layer of this product is enough to last through the day while still maintaining a natural, heathy looking face.

6) Daisy Dream by Marc Jacobs

I actually got this for Christmas but love it just the same as if I had gotten it yesterday. I am a little obsessed with the bottle it comes in because it is so dainty and pretty, but the fragrance is incredible too. It is a subtly sweet everyday type of decoration and is light and airy enough to spritz anywhere.
