James’s Baptism

“Baptism is the door of the spiritual life and the gateway to the sacraments.” -Thomas Aquinas 

As the product of a Catholic upbringing, I wanted to begin James’s spiritual life in a similar way to mine. It was important to me to baptize him early on, as it is tradition in the Catholic church.

James was baptized in our family gown, the same one that my sisters and I wore on our special days. And let me just say, it was perfect. He looked like a character from a Nathaniel Hawthorne novel.

We decided on my younger sister, Zoe as the Godmother and my father as the Godfather to cultivate the light that exists within little James.
