“Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no; it is an ever-fixed mark,
That looks on tempests, and is never shaken.”
–Sonnet 116, William Shakespeare
Today was one of those rare days that harness the ability to touch the soul in all it’s tender, reserved places and remind its owner of the abundant happiness that life can provide. Today was my twenty-first birthday.
Our days always begin slowly and quietly, which is just how I like them. Today was certainly no exception. I normally wake up before James in order to start my morning routine. However, this morning, he caught me in the middle of applying makeup.
Around noon Kevin took James and I to Olive Garden for lunch and I got to order my first alcoholic beverage, White Zinfandel wine. It was pretty good!
Afterward we returned home and spent the remainder of the afternoon together. I know that these simple, thoughtful days with my boys will remain ingrained within the very fibers of my being. These two have touched my very soul.
